Selectable colour mix and luminance adjustment for reading and writing. Creates the optimum lighting conditions to alleviate reading difficulties caused by such disorders as Visual Dyslexia, Photosensitive Epilepsyand Migraines
Spectral Stimulation on the Human visual system The human visual system responds optimally with appropriate stimulation. This timulation threshold varies between individuals and full spectral stimulation can cause problems. It is beneficial to modify the visual stimulus for some people by changing spectral distribution in a specific task, particularly reading and writing. It is already well established that the colour of ambient lighting has a major influence on the effects of disorders such as visual dyslexia, photosensitive epilepsy and migraine. In the case of visual dyslexia some sufferers can alleviate their reading difficulties by covering the page with a transparent overlay in order to block out those wavelengths of light which accentuate the problem. The overlays are usually simple primary colours either red, green or blue. Whilst these assist with reading, they are of no value for writing. The DIVERSE Optim-Eyes lamp is colour selectable, allowing colours to be mixed to create the optimum lighting to suit each user. The lamp can be used in addition to specifically prescribed tinted spectacles to achieve optimum results. The colour selection can be operated either individually or together so that it is possible to select single primary colours or combine them to give different hues and luminance that can be used for both reading and writing. Three dials control the proportion of red, green and blue light while a fourth controls the intensity. When used in conjunction with the Jordan Reversal and Inversion Test and the Jordan Pattern Glare Screening Test, the optimum colour balance can be set for each individual's needs. Once set the Optim-Eyes, with its flexible positioning arm, is a practical lamp for reading or writing. Technical Information The Optim-Eyes light is generated by light emitting diodes. CIE 1931 Chromaticity Co-ordinates X Y Red 0.696 0.297 Green 0.145 0.68 Blue 0.132 0.095
Each Optim-Eyes pack contains:
One Optim-Eyes colour controllable lamp. The Optim-Eyes handbook on how to adjust the colours to the optimum levels for an individual's requirement using the relevant Jordan test: The Reversal and Inversion Test. The Pattern Glare Screening Test.
The Optim-Eyes lamp was created in a joint development with optician Ian Jordan, an internationally recognised expert in visual processing problems. Ian is the author of VISUAL DYSLEXIA -A Parents and Teachers Guide and the designer of the Millennium Product award winning Visual Tracking Magnifier. His lecture credits include the World Dyslexia Congress, the European Conference in Neural Development, the British Opticians National Conference and the Scottish Dyslexia Trust National Conference.
